Collets are movable metal parts which grip the tool or the work piece while machining. Collet chucks are manufactured from high grade spring steel for better hardness and best performance. They are available in different variety of sizes and shapes for Headstocks and attachments.
Collets are basically produced in inches and metric in sizes based on the requirement. The standard program for manufacturing collets includes bore sizes starting from Ø 0.50mm. For the better operation, collets are made with smooth bore Grooved bore (above bore Ø9mm). Smooth bore collets are mainly used on Sub or Back spindles for secondary operation. The smooth bore in the collet prevents the damages to the machined parts while gripping. Whereas the Grooved colts are used on main spindle & the grooves helps in better gripping and avoid slippage while machining.
